Ella's Corncake Feast
Ella's class had a corncake feast today. Jim was able to meet us since he was just down the street! We're really enjoying his office being so close! The kids were so adorable. I just love the looks on all of their faces...they are hilarious and so cute! Such a great way to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
New House
We have been very busy enjoying our new house and not very good with pictures, sorry! Here's a few pictures of the family! There is the apple cider toast on night #1 after the closing, our breakfast picnic move in morning, and a few more snuggly pictures ;)

Daddy Daughter Date Night
Tonight was Daddy Daughter Date Night at Chick-Fil-A. It was a great night for Ella to try Chick-Fil-A for the first time. I just hope she doesn't think every trip to Chick-Fil-A will be like this one.
When we got there, they had rolled out the red carpet. The Chick-Fil-A cow was there to give Ella a flower.
When we were seated, Ella was very impressed with the entertainment for the night.
Saving the best for last, we got to take a limo ride after dinner!
As you can see, we had a great time at Daddy Daughter Date Night!

Closing in a week!!!
They put in the landscaping today! So Jim will once again have grass to mow and shrubs to trim! He has so missed it ;) We also snooped inside and the paper was off the hardwoods, so we were able to finally see it all! So cool!!! It was also much safer without paper to trip over, so the girls had a little more freedom in the house. They had a great time running around like goobers!

Trick or Treating
Tonight we went Trick or Treating in our new neighborhood. The concept finally clicked for Ella this year. She meant business running from house to house. The girls have a ton of candy! Here's some photos and a video from the night.

Christenbury Fall Festival
We kicked off Halloween weekend this morning with a trip to the Christenbury Fall Festival with the Barnett's. The kids got in their costumes and had a blast. Ella, Savannah, and Gage all took a few swings at the pinata with Lily there cheering them on!

1st Visit to Discovery Place KIDS
Oh my goodness this place is amazing and SO close to our house! School was out today, so it was pretty little crowded and nuts. Plus we had to do just a short trip because we needed to get home for lunch and nap, but we still had a wonderful time. It was a little harder to take pictures since it was just us and they wanted to go and see everything. We didn't see everything, but what we saw was WOW!!! Sorry the quality isn't so great...

Ella's Harvest Party
Ella's class had their Harvest Party (secret code name for Halloween Party) today. Families were invited, so Lily and I along with a ton of other moms and a thousand siblings showed up since public schools had half day. Ella was so surprised that we showed up at lunch, and promptly told us we were supposed to come for the party not lunch ;) Then she explained to us who every mom was and told us who they belonged to. Which was especially hilarious because she was "whispering," but was not at all whispering. At the end there is a picture of Ella with a little girl and a little boy. The little girl is Ella's favorite little girl friend, Audrey. They are very similar and I'm sure constantly up to something silly. The little boy, Jackson, is a nut. I love this kid, he is hilarious and really drawn to Ella. He is constantly chasing her outside and so sweet to Lily. I wish I would have taken more pictures of her friends, but I was holding Lily most of the party to keep her from climbing and standing on every chair ;) She tested out almost every chair.

New Closing Date
Yes that countdown is right! Our closing date has changed! The previous closing date had us closing on a Friday. Our movers would not be able to come until Monday, unless we wanted to pay for the ridiculous overtime. With Veterens Day that week it was going to be tricky, luckily the closing was flexible and we are now moved up to November 10th!!!
Airport Open House
Today we went to the open house at the Concord Regional Airport. They had some really cool planes there, and Ella got to sit in a helicopter with her friend Savannah! Lily and Gage also had a good time running around the runway.

Hardwood Floors!!!
Went by the house yesterday morning to take a few pictures. I was completely shocked they were installing hardwoods. Of course when we got there they were all covered, including the vents which poor Ella fell into :( Luckily she was okay, just scared of our house now and falling through the floor. So we may not be able to talk her into visiting for awhile. Here are a few pictures of the hardwoods, along with a few things recently fixed or new! Carpets are also coming in this week, so we'll try to make another stop by.

A Few New Additions
It has been Jim's turn to be sick, so to get him some fresh air we stopped by the house the other night. We weren't expecting to find all the new fun additions. It is so much fun visiting and seeing all the new developments. This week they have been working on light fixtures, appliances, outlets, switches, and more! Here are a few new things done that we saw:

Tile, New Doors, & Oven
Lily and I went by today since Kim and Ella were not feeling well. We had to stop by the sales office to get a key. We were locked out of our own house! Turns out it was locked because the appliances were delivered (but not installed). I was able to get a picture of the oven in the box.
Also new this week is the tile backsplash in the kitchen, tile floor in the master bath, and new and improved doors for the office and guest bedroom.

Countertops!!!
I went by to check on something this morning, and was so excited to see we have kitchen countertops!!! They also came back and touched up the paint, so I tried to take some more pictures to show the color. Since we were expecting white white and having to paint immediately, this surprise color is wonderful. Now we will just have a few places to paint, but not anything we can't do on our own. Our upstairs bathroom countertops are in as well, so there are pictures of the guest and girls' bathroom. The master bathroom was getting tile installed so we couldn't get in there to take pictures, but we'll be back this weekend ;)

Discovery Place
We went back to visit Discovery Place with some friends! The girls had so much fun with Savannah and Gage! In fact, we had such a great time we are now members :) They are building another one minutes from our house that opens in October. I'm sure we will make good use of that membership!

1st Coat of Paint
We have been dying to get in and see what the house looks like painted, but it has been so stinky. Today it wasn't too bad, but the girls and I didn't last too long. Jim took a few pictures before the girls wore us down and we had to visit the playground :) Right now it's just the 1st coat, but since they told us it was going to be plain white we were VERY happy to see that it's not really white. I'm sure it'll even be less white looking once they are finished. Can't wait to see once they are done with the painting! It really is slowly becoming a house, and it's our house!!!

Steps and Deck
When we went by the house today, they had painted the interior walls. Unfortunately it smelled so bad we couldn't stay inside long enough to take any pictures. They also added steps going into the house from the garage, and the back deck is done!

Cabinets, Doors, Molding, and Deck
We went by the house today, and they had done a ton! All of the cabinets are in, as well as the interior doors. The crown molding is up, and the deck was almost finished too!

Drywall!
We went by the house and took a ton of pictures today. The drywall is in, and it really looks like a house now! We have a closing date of November 12th, which is much sooner than expected! We are so excited!

It's painted!
We went over to the house today, and for the most part, it's painted on the outside! There are still a few areas where they aren't done yet, but it's really looking like our house now. Luckily, we like the brick/paint combination on the house, and not just on the little squares we saw in the design center.

Wood Manor

Charlotte (June 2010)

We took the girls up to Charlotte to get them excited about the move. I think we succeeded and got ourselves even more excited! We did so many fun things while we were there. We played at our pool and quickly learned we would have no problem meeting people at the pool. Somehow we only got pictures of the baby pool. We'll have to go back :) We also visited a very cool museum that they are building another one even closer to us in the fall. We saw the lake, the biggest attraction in NC (a mall), and wanted to see more of downtown aka Uptown Charlotte, so we created a driving tour. Jim loved this part because I am a great navigator (said with much sarcasm). We saw so much, and saw things we want to see more of soon! Hope everyone comes to visit!

We have a crawler!
After waking up to practice at 4 AM this morning, we officially have another child on the move! I was getting Ella dressed and she left her book and reading pen right out of Lily's reach. We looked over and saw her pull her arms forward, stick her buns in the air, then wiggle her feet, and she was off. Not far, but enough to get her to what she wanted. I took it away, and she did a 90 degree turn towards us, went a few inches, then got tired. Way to go Lily!!!
Princess Party
Ella's good friend, McKenzie, turned 3 and had a princess party. The girls were all asked to dress as their favorite princess. There was even a special guest, Cinderella. Apparently she told Ella she'd see her again soon at her birthday party. Thanks Cinderella! See more pictures here.
Swingers
Ella wasn't really a fan of swings when she was little, but now loves swings. So we weren't really sure what sort of reaction we'd get from Lily, but she LOVES swinging! Our neighborhood just built a new playground (thanks to our friend Carlyn) We went to check it out and it's a hit! We've gone back almost everyday since!

Snow Day
One of the things we told Ella to sell her on Charlotte was that it snows more there. Of course, she somehow turned that into the fact that we were going to live closer to Santa and have reindeer. Now it looks like Charlotte is going to have a lot to live up to with all of this snow. And you know, Ella needs lots of snow for her snow collection.

Ella Sings the Blues
Ella made her first song on Garage Band this morning. All of her practice with Poppy seems to have paid off. She's a blues singin' fool.

Grandma-Ma
Dean gave me a throwback (translation: bought 18 years ago) Charlotte Hornets Larry Johnson jersey for my birthday. Ella showed us she's ready to move to Charlotte by putting on the jersey. It fits her much better than it does me.
